BLODPUDDING - GOTLAND TO STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - DAY 13
Another early morning for the girls and Dad. We all cleaned the cabin, and Dad came to meet us. We had a little macka (sandwiches), and packed the car to head to brunch.
In Visby, we gathered for a hangover cure. I wasn’t hungover because I didn’t party, but it was so funny to see everyone else who was. The 4AM hardcore partiers looked ROUGH haha!
It was a good breakfast, and much needed after yesterday’s “workout”. We say our final goodbyes- Julia and Tove were off to a brief honeymoon in Budapest THAT DAY, and will aim for a longer honeymoon in December. I don’t know where yet.
Mom, Dad, Anna Karin and I, head out, and grab some ice cream before catching the ferry. Anna Karin was SO funny- I had the laugh of my life. She hadn’t booked the ferry properly, and didn’t tell Dad because of course he would give her shit for it. Mom and Dad were sitting in the back, Anna Karin was driving, and I was riding shotgun. She had to tell him- It was now or never...
ANNA KARIN: So-I-uh, so-I-uh, so-I-just-have-to-tell-you-something-it’s-not-that-important-but-it’s-just-something-and-I-anyway-I-uh-screwedupbookingtheferry-and-so-now-I’m-not-going-with-you-but-it’s-no-big-deal.
(pause)
ERIK: *moves forward from the back seat of the car* ...Va? (What)?
I just lost my mind. Anna Karin and I had planned to tell Dad she had a work appointment in Visby and that’s why she couldn’t make the ferry. But she cracked under the pressure and her delivery of this had me ROLLING. I laughed so hard, I cried. Of course Dad gave her grief, but between me losing my mind, Mom laughing because I was laughing, and Anna Karin laughing at herself, it was really no problem. Anna Karin caught a flight home, and the three of us took the ferry.
We found our seats, and directly in front of us, TOVE’S FAMILY SAT DOWN. We got to bond with them for the whole 3 hour ride. I talked to the moms, mine and Yvonne, about the film industry and what I’m doing with that. The Dads talked to each other, and all three brothers watched a movie. It was so nice to know more of Tove through her siblings, step mom and Dad. I’ve only met and known Tove when her and Julia met for the first time, and even that was brief. That was three years ago, when I was studying in the summer in Stockholm.
We docked and picked up Anna Karin’s car, and drove to her place to meet her. We ate our special blodpudding, and salmon with her daughters, Lisa and Ida. It was a shock to see them, because now, they’re fully grown women, and I only remember seeing them as little girls. Times change, but your memories stay the same.
It was a great last supper, but honestly, I think everyone including myself were tapped out from such a fast, and busy destination wedding. I knock out the second my head hits the pillow at midnight.
