SPICY, GINGER, CHILI, GARLIC - FORT WILLIAM, SCOTLAND - DAY 11

We woke up to a cold, dreary, wet morning. The weather followed us all the way to Fort William.

There’s honestly not much to report form today because it was mainly 5 hours of driving after 2 hours on the ferry.

We split fish n’ chips on the ferry over, and made a pit stop at Glengarry Castle Hotel. It was so remote and empty, we had to ask the clerk at reception, “Are you open”? He seemed either insulted by this, or gave us a look like we were daft, or both. We didn’t spend a lot of time there as it was a bit of a bizarre place, but the views were lovely. They served over priced tea and tea sandwiches.

We finished the first Harry Potter audio book on the way, and started the second audio book. We're about three chapters in to "The Chamber Of Secrets" when we come into Fort William. Much like the rest of the UK, it's a stoney grey town with lots of history and shops catering to tourists.

After checking in to our hostel, we each take a proper shower which was absolutely glorious. My cold got a bit worse and there’s a lot of pressure in my right ear, but it doesn’t feel like an ear infection- I’m hoping and praying it doesn’t become one. I’ve been taking Sudafed and ibuprofen and that sort of helped. But what clears your sinuses better than medicine?

...Indian food. Andrea and I are hungry and only have snacks left in the car. We pop over to an Indian spot and we both eat well, and healthy. The spicy, ginger, chili and garlic work their magic. My sinuses are entirely clear for a short while, the pressure relents, and a wave of relief washes over me.

We’re heading to bed now to sleep as long as we can before check out. This will be our first, warm, proper sleep in four days. I’m taking two NyQuil so I can breathe and enjoy my slumber.

Love you guys!

The Harry Potter railroad, (Glennfinnan Viaduct), and back home to Glasgow tomorrow. Can’t wait to do laundry!!!!
