NO SEASON 3 - GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - DAY 2

Woke up to Whitney Houston playing "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" this morning while having breakfast. Andrea put a little Baileys in our coffee...For flavor, not for a morning buzz, I promise. It was actually really delicious!

We quickly finished, dressed and ran errands for the day, plucking up last minute items, and doing small tasks for Andrea. The first order of business was to practice building our tent. It’s small and barely fits the both of us, but hopefully we’ll be fine. It’s meant to rain everyday we camp. Andrea is worried, but I’m optimistic.

We later went to her vet school and she took me touring to see the ground and a penis tree. It was beautiful, serene, and hilarious.

The errands are small, everyday stuff, but I really get to see the city and I’m enjoying myself. There’s this one store called Argo’s. It’s quite brilliant- you go into the shop and are met with screens and search bars. You search the thing you want and they take it from the warehouse in the back- and they sell everything! It’s like a brick and mortar Amazon store! We picked up some camping sleeping mats here for cheap.

We came home, and packed for camping, and made tacos. Andrea is an incredible chef, and the food was AMAZING! We scarfed everything down, and packed some more. We decided to make banana bread as well because her bananas were going bad.

Her friend Carleen who lives downstairs, has a key to Andrea’s flat and scared the shit out of us while baking. She’s really nice though. She left, and the banana bread turned out great. We ate it while watching Fleabag. Mom, Pheobe to me, is like what Jennifer Sanders in Absolutely Fabulous is to you- A genius. (I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again, because it's important). We watch all the way until season two, and decide we can’t waste such a nice day.

Andrea drives me to the Necropolis. It’s a BEAUTIFUL graveyard next to a brewery. I’m glad I’m not the only one in the family who enjoys visiting graveyards and cathedrals when traveling. This is Andrea’s favorite spot to go to have some peace and quite...Obviously. (I made a lot of dead people jokes here). I pointed out to Andrea that she contemplates existence in the midst of death. Oh the irony.

It must be a ridiculous thing to go to a graveyard and take selfies, but that’s what the internet is for. It was truly a serene place. I was actually humbled when we came across a grave holding a mother and her 5 year old daughter from the 1800s. The top piece of the grave was flipped upside down. Many things were out of order on the gravestones and I speculate it’s a result of young people having too much fun on a night out. I felt horrible for the mother, Miriam and the little girl Jessie, so we flipped the tip of the gravestone right side up. If they’re at peace they probably don’t care, but I felt better anyway.

We drove into the city after to tour. Andrea showed me the largest movie theatre in Europe- An eight floor cinema house, and we got Doner Kebabs for dinner. We do takeaway, and hours later, return home to eat dinner, banana bread, and watch season two of Fleabag. We are so invested in this show, that we stay up until 2AM watching the entire second season. It’s so emotional at the end. We’re completely ripped up and heart broken. We research hoping to find a renewal for season 3, and find out that the creator, Phoebe won’t do it. I understand and respect her decision, but DAMN do I want more!

It left such a strong impression, that we end up sitting on the kitchen floor having a night cap and discussing the show. I’m still shook. 10 years, 2 dude writers / EPs, and the finale of Game of Thrones couldn’t do that, but two days of two seasons with one female leading the charge for this British, feminist dark comedy, and I’m simply beside myself because there will never be another season of the show, or moment with this brilliant, outrageous character. I know I sound ridiculous and overly passionate, but it’s actually shows like this that made me love cinema in the first place. I have become so attached to this character and so emotionally invested in her story, that now that I will never have the opportunity to continue it, and I’m just devastated. Good storytelling is supposed affect someone like this.

I had other favorite British dark comedy series, but this is by far my favorite one.

Andrea and I rally, and she does the dishes in the sink, I take a shower and we both go to bed sad. We have a full day tomorrow, but I’m still twisted on time, and making matters worse by being on my phone at 3 in the morning typing out this email.

I’ll try to fall asleep now. I’ll write tomorrow. Love you!
