THE MIRACLE OF LIFE ALSO SUCKS - GOTLAND, SWEDEN - DAY 17
An early wake up call, but I’m up before my alarm. I’m dressed and out the door in 30mins. I'm a ninja and no one wakes. I take the metro and get to the busy station by 6am, an hour before my bus.
At the ferry I sit at a table because economy doesn’t have an actual seat. Two families and three very naughty kids sit near. I sat next to a child on a bus as well. On the ferry, there are so many f***king kids! People are with babies, pre teens and teens roam the ferry in droves. It almost feels like the amount of kids outnumber the amount of adults. If this was a sick ploy for the Universe to give me baby fever after last night, it totally back fired. These kids, especially the naughty ones by me who couldn’t stop screaming and moving for the entire three hours, are driving me nuts! The only kid I like right now is the one coming out of my cousin’s belly. The rest can f**k off to the nearest playground. This little brother and sister are so naughty, they don’t listen to their grandparents, and the parents are either absent, on their phones, or only yell at them once and then do nothing. It just goes to show, just because you can have kids, doesn't necessarily mean you should. Or in the very least, f***king think about it before you do.
Finally off the boat, but not feeling fresh. I’m greeted by Dad and my two aunts. It feels like the norm- coming home to min andra hemma “my other home”. The weather is perfect, hot and sunny. The family is moving just a bit slower as aging is natural and inevitable, as is creating new life like Julia. <Insert "The Lion King" reference here>.
We eat lax and potatoes- VERY Swedish. I also found that they have lactose free milk- Actually the best thing in Swedish existence.
It’s amazing to see life in both ways- All of the new beginnings with Julia and Tove vs. a sweet and peaceful retirement of old age in Gotland. A stark contrast but feels kind of like peering into the future. Either way, all of these life experience vignettes are beautiful to peak into.
I stay up “late” watching South Park while everyone goes to bed.
